What is TruSculpt 3D?
TruSculpt 3D is a nonsurgical Radio Frequency (RF) device designed to sculpt and contour the body. It delivers deep heat to adipose tissue for non-invasive fat reduction, body sculpting/contouring and skin tightening. It is designed to kill fat cells in the abdomen, flanks, thighs, fat upper pelvic area (FUPA), back fat, bra fat, under the chin, jowls, back of the arms and other stubborn regions where fat lingers.
How does TruSculpt work?
The truSculpt 3D RF waves create targeted uniform heating of the subcutaneous fat layer. This kills the fat cells, which are then disposed of by the body over the next 8 to 12 weeks. FDA approval was based on a study that showed an average of 24% (up to 35%) fat thickness reduction in one treatment after 12 weeks. Additionally, truSculpt 3D will tighten the skin and provides temporary reduction of the appearance of cellulite.
Am I a good candidate for truSculpt 3D?
You will be evaluated by Dr. Kuhlman or Jodi Wilhelm, CNP to determine if you are a good candidate. The truSculpt works best on a person who has unwanted fat in a specific area of their body that does not respond to diet and exercise. People who have cardiac pacemakers, internal defibrillators, tumors and metallic implants (including joint replacements) in the target area and those that are pregnant are not candidates.
What is the procedure like?
Pre-treatment photographs will be taken. Clothing, jewelry, body piercings will need to be removed from the treated area, and excess hair may need to be shaved. Consider bringing a pair of comfortable shorts to wear. Your skin will be cleaned, and a template will be placed on your skin to help determine the specific treatment area. We have two separate hand pieces to use, depending on the size of the area being treated. For most areas of the body we will use the large hand piece that will gently move over your skin while delivering radiofrequency energy to the skin and subcutaneous fat. Each area is treated for about 15 minutes, so the right and left abdomen and flanks will take about 60 minutes. For small areas like under the chin and jawline, a smaller hand piece is held in place for 5 minute intervals at overlapping sites for about 30 minutes total.
What does it feel like?
TruSculpt 3D treatment will cause mild to moderate discomfort. It feels like a hot stone massage. The temperature will be adjusted during the treatment based on your comfort level.
How long does the procedure take?
The abdomen and flanks take approximately a full hour to treat. Small areas such as under the chin and jawline require about 30 minutes.
How many treatments will I need?
For most areas of the body we will use the large hand piece that typically requires just one treatment. You can repeat the procedure after 12 weeks if you want additional fat reduction. The small hand piece required for under the chin fat needs two treatments.
Are there any side effects?
You will get warm and may sweat during the procedure. You may have mild redness and soreness in the treated area for a few hours. Small nodules can also develop in the treated area for a few weeks.
Is there any downtime?
No. You can resume normal activity immediately after treatment.

When will I start seeing results?
Most people will begin to see results in 4-6 weeks with maximum improvement at 12 weeks. TruSculpt 3D delivers RF energy to destroy fat cells in the treatment area. It then uses the body’s natural system to break down and dispose of these cells. This process takes up to 12 weeks.
Can truSculpt be combined with other fat reducing procedures?
Yes. We can combine truSculpt with Kybella injections. We first use truSculpt to treat a large area of fat. If there is a small residual area of stubborn fat left, we can inject a small amount of Kybella into that area to dissolve the fat. This is usually done for small specific areas of unwanted fat such as bra fat, inner thigh fat and fat upper pelvic area (FUPA).
How much does truSculpt cost?
The cost is dependent on the size of the treatment area and the amount of time required to effectively kill the underlying fat. We charge $2000 to treat the abdomen and flanks and $1000 for two treatments for chin and jowl fat. Our pricing is 25% lower than the national average.
