Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is an extremely effective exfoliating treatment in which a doctor, aesthetician, or registered nurse uses a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently scrape off any dead skin cells on the surface of your skin, along with the vellus, AKA peach fuzz.

Why is it necessary?

The buildup of dead skin and microscopic hairs can make your complexion appear dull, flaky, and can even cause breakouts due to clogged pores and hair follicles. This form of mechanical exfoliation is essential for maintaining an even, healthy glow. It also serves as a wonderful “priming” step before other treatments, allowing them to be more effective.

How does it work?

This technique is safely performed using a specialized surgical instrument with disposable blades designed specifically for dermaplaning. Once the skin is properly prepped, the technician holds the skin taut and gently scrapes the skin with the blade held at a 45 degree angle. This removes both the vellus hair and the top layer of dead skin cells.

Is it safe?

Dermaplaning is extremely safe when performed by a professionally trained aesthetician utilizing proper tools and techniques. Our staff are certified to perform Dermaplaning.

How long does it take?

A dermaplaning session takes approximately 30 minutes and can be performed immediately prior to other treatments. The hair will grow back in roughly 4 weeks, but Dermaplaning CAN be utilized as a regular service rather than just prior to other treatments too. Dermaplaning will NOT cause your hair to grow back thicker or darker, as this is physiologically impossible. There are two types of hair that grow on our bodies: Vellus hair is the thin, fine, light colored soft hair that typically covers the entire body. Terminal hair is the course hair that grows on the head, face in men, underarms, legs and pubic areas and the type that can appear thicker or courses after it is shaved.

Is there any downtime?

No, that’s one of the benefits. The skin instantly has a healthier glow and feels amazingly soft, plus makeup glides on effortlessly for a flawless finish. This is a must have procedure before an important social event.

How much does it cost?

We charge $75 as a stand-alone treatment, $50 if combined with another service. We also have significant discounts for multiple sessions.
