Micro-needling

The Dermapen is a micro-needling device that tightens, lifts and rejuvenates skin.

How does micro-needling work?

The Dermapen delivers up to 1300 micropunctures into the skin per second. The body responds in a natural way by launching processes to repair the physical damage. This results in an increased production of normal collagen, which in turn improves wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, age spots, etc.

What areas of the body can be treated?

Dermapen can effectively treat the face, body and head.

What conditions can be effectively treated with the Dermapen ?

What is the procedure like?

You will be evaluated by Dr. Kuhlman or Jodi Wilhelm, CNP to determine if you are a good candidate for Dermapen. Persons with open sores from acne or rosacea, herpes, warts, scleraderma, bacterial/fungal infections, open lesions, solar keratosis, skin cancer, hemophilia should not receive Dermapen treatments.  It is best to wait at least a week if you have received Botox or filler injections. Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area. Digital pictures will be obtained. Multiple skin rejuvenating creams will be applied before, during and after the Dermapen micro-needling procedure. A typical time-frame is 40 minutes start to finish.

Is the treatment comfortable?

There is minimal discomfort as a topical numbing cream is applied before the procedure.

Is there any downtime?

Mild redness, swelling, itching and dry skin are expected for two days. We advise against sun exposure, intense exercise, and exposing the treated area to any skin irritants for 2 days post procedure. Most people can return to normal daily activities immediately after treatment. We recommend waiting until the next day to apply make-up.

How many treatments are required?

4 treatments, 4 to 6 weeks apart are recommended for most conditions. Deep scars, stretch marks and alopecia may require 6 to 8 treatments.

When will I see results?

Most people see results after the very first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will occur with 4 treatments, 4 to 6 weeks apart. Your skin should continue to improve over the next 6 to 12 months after the course is completed.

How much does Dermapen treatments cost?

We charge $325 for one session. Our introductory special is 4 treatments for $1200. We also strongly recommend that you consistently use good skin care products.
