What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an injection treatment that uses the patient’s own blood.  About 30-60 mL’s of blood is drawn into a syringe. The blood is then spun twice in a centrifuge to separate the platelet rich plasma from the rest of the blood. The PRP is a solution containing concentrated platelets, growth factors and enzymes that promote healing and repair damaged tissue.

Are PRP injections safe?

Yes. PRP is an all-natural medical procedure

How does PRP help with hair loss?

PRP stimulates inactive hair follicles into an active phase. It helps regenerate thinning hair in both men and women, but will not reverse baldness.

What is the procedure like?

You will be evaluated by Dr. Kuhlman or Jodi Wilhelm, CNP to determine if you are a good candidate. A small amount of blood will be drawn from your arm. While this blood is being converted to PRP in the centrifugation process, Dr. Kuhlman or Jodi will inject lidocaine along your hairline to numb the injection site.  About 5 mL’s of PRP will then be injected in a grid pattern about 1 cm apart just under the skin in the location of your thinning hair. The entire procedure will take about 45 minutes.

Is the treatment comfortable?

There is minimal discomfort as the PRP injection site is numbed with lidocaine before the procedure.

Is there any downtime?

No. The injection area will be numb for a few hours. Most people can return to normal daily activities immediately after treatment.

How many treatments are required?

Three treatments,  4-6 weeks apart.  A follow-up treatment is recommended  once or twice per year.

When will I see results?

A decrease in hair loss is seen in a couple months. Visible hair thickening should be seen in 6 months.

How much does it cost?

$700 per visit or $2000 for three visits
