Liquid Facelift with Sculptra

Sculptra Aesthetic is designed to replace volume throughout the face and stimulate your own collagen for a natural look.  Sculptra Aesthetic is the only facial injectable approved by the FDA to last more than 2 years.

What is Sculptra and how does it work?

Sculptra Aesthetic, or poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), is a facial injectable that adds volume to correct nasolabial folds and other facial wrinkles.  Injectable Sculptra replaces lost collagen and reinforces skin structure. This provides a collagen framework that gradually restores volume. The result is smoothing out of facial wrinkles and folds.

A consultation is first performed to determine the best injection locations. Your face will then be thoroughly cleaned and the injection site locations marked.  Common injection sites are above the eyebrow, temple, cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionettes lines, jaw line, chin and above the upper lip. There are also special techniques to help with loose skin and acne scars.

How many sessions are required and how long does it take?

A minimum of 2 sessions scheduled 4 to 6 weeks apart are required. For people over 50 with significant volume loss a third session is recommended 2 months later.

Each session takes about 30 minutes with Dr. Kuhlman and Jodi Wilhelm working together.

Is the treatment comfortable?

There is minimal discomfort as the Sculptra is mixed with a pain relieving anesthetic.

When will I see results and for how long?

Because Sculptra works by stimulating your own natural collagen it can take a few months to see the full results, but it can last for over 2 years.

Will I look fake?

No. Because Sculptra works by stimulating the growth of your own natural collagen, this will provide a more youthful natural look.

What are the most common potential side effects?

Temporary injection site swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, nodules and itching.  Sculptra should not be injected around the eyes and in the red area of the lip.

Are there post-procedure instructions?

You should massage the injection site areas for 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days.

Can I use Sculptra Aesthetic with other cosmetic procedures?

Yes. Sculptra can be combined with other procedures such as Botox, fillers, lasers and skin care products.

How much does it cost?

The cost of Sculptra depends on the number of vials required. A general guideline is one vial for each decade.  So 4 vials if you are in your forties, 5 vials if in your fifties, etc. A typical fee for all 3 sessions  is about $2800.
